The right corrugated cardboard packaging can prevent dings, scratches and bump from reaching products inside, but did you know it can also stop microscopic intruders from invading its contents as well?
A recent study from independent researchers at NSF International found the corrugation process effectively eliminates many serious contaminants that may be present in the raw materials, like E. coli and Salmonella. Corrugated manufacturers heat linerboard to around two hundred degrees Fahrenheit for approximately nine seconds, enough to scorch any bacteria.
The NSF study also concluded these revelations sufficiently meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s requirements for chemical sanitation without the chemicals. Yet another reason why corrugated packaging delivers more bang for the manufacturer’s buck – it’s as safe as it is green!
That’s all for today. Tune in next time for more packaging news!
