Welcome back to the P-T-I video blog!
All industries evolve over time, and e-commerce's rise within retail is one of the best examples. It also requires different tactics to ensure customer satisfaction.
E-commerce places increased importance on the sturdiness of packages. Customers have no control over product transportation, and place the safety of their purchases in shipping companies' hands.
Major e-retailers like Amazon are considering new shipping methods in the hope of minimizing product damage. These include testing adverse shipping conditions and having vendors send items directly, to limit the circumstances in which products can get hurt.
Finally, in light of increasing logistics costs, like the dimensional-weight rate hikes that UPS and FedEx announced early in 2017, protecting products from damage helps companies save money.
